iPhone XS Rear camera slow to focus in FaceTime video call

I noticed today that the rear camera on my XS is slow to focus and the focus tends to wander a bit or be unstable during a FaceTime video call. This is not the case when using the camera app on my XS where focus is near instant and very accurate. I tested the rear camera on my iPad Pro 10.5” in a FaceTime call and it does not appear to have focusing issues. Since the camera app on my XS is fine, I am near certain this is software related but I’m curious if anyone else has noticed this?

Yup same on mine on the 12pro max doing facetime.
