iPad Red underlining of a misspelled

word has disappeared from iPad Air. I upgrade the latest version 7.1.2 few weeks ago. How do I get red underlining back onto spelling auto correction?

You must be spelling correctly because that is part of the built in dictionary and if the word is in there and you spell it wrong the red will appear. if it is there and it does not appear you have to be spelling it right.

This has been broken since iOS 7? Because it doesn’t work here on iOS 12.1.4. You know what else doesn’t work? Spelling suggestions. They vanish before they can be tapped on.
