Relic of the Past - Inquiry

Not too long ago, I dissected an old MacBook. It's been dead for years so, I wasn't expecting much from it. Anyhow, the most interesting part taken from it was an Airport Extreme card. After some quick research, I learned that it was used for internet connection and other data movement.

My question is, what purpose does it serve now? Is it merely just another outdated piece of tech or can it be used for something better, like a Hackintosh or other projects?

it's just a wi-fi card,
you could re-use it, but to find the socket needed could prove difficult.
not to mention any drivers that may be needed.
and depending on how old it is it's probably slow compared to todays adapters.

you'd be better off with a $30 USB wifi adapter.
