Remote to use with windows 7 media center on mac mini

Hi.

Im going to buy the new mac mini and was wondering if my actual remote (that came with my vaio laptop) will work if I use windows 7 media center on the new mac mini to watch movies or tv shows.

Will any remote thats not the apple one work under windows media center on the mac mini or even using Plex on Snow Leopard?
