Rendered LightWave animation on a PowerBook G3, the thing was running for 2 weeks and it still works like a charm ever since. :)

Do not worry about it, that is what a computer is made for. Besides if it blows up, send your complaints to Apple and they will send you a new one. ;) :D

It should be fine. I found out how to change the speed of your fans in Mac OS X, I'll see if I can find the file to configure it again.

Another alternative is to buy a x86 machine with more horsepower behind it. G5 is pretty out dated compared to newer AMD and Intel processors.
