Restoring files from a Capitan TM backup on Yosemite

I have a TMachine backup from ElCapitan and i wish to open and explore those backup files in a system that is using Yosemite. By "explore" i mean to see its contents and retrieve certain files. Is this possible to be done?

Either what im asking isn't possible or im not clear on what i want to achieve! :)
