I'm receiving my iPhone X later today, and am planning on restoring it from a backup made from my 6 Plus as I would like to keep my messages. However, my 6 Plus is currently running iOS 10 because it does not have sufficient memory to upgrade to iOS 11. Will I be able to do this as the X comes out of box running 11? Thanks!

Yes that is what I did. I restored from my iCloud backup of iPhone 7+ which was running 10.3.3. Works fine!

Hi, when you received your new device, did you plug it into iTunes and backup from a restore (which would have been 10.3.3)? I want to get either an iPhone 7 or 8 but I HATE ios 11 and don't want it but want the new phone.

That would be interesting to know if it is possible, I believe the new phones are shipping with iOS 11 and there is no way to put iOS 10 on them?

There is no way to downgrade the iOS version.
