my iPhone camera roll has become corrupted. I don’t have a recent enough iTunes backup but I have all my photos backed up in photos app on my Mac. Is there a way I can restore all these photos to the camera roll?

No. You would need an iTunes backup or iCloud backup to restore the photos. You could airdrop them to your phone little by little but no guarantee that they will be in the same order and it would take a lifetime to do that. Last way is to sync the photos to your phone through iTunes but they will not go to your camera roll.

Best you can do, turn on iCloud photo library and it will sync your photos across all your devices, perfectly.
