We've been having problems with the Dock in 10.4.3. Is there a fix for Dock freezings or does anyone know how to return to 10.4.2 without reinstalling OS X?

thanks,

Perhaps a bit of troubleshooting can solve your problem? Are you using some sort of Dock haxie? If so, did you get an updated version that works with 10.4.3?

I hope so... but it sounds like an update problem.

BTW, this is on a Mac Mini 1.25 GHz with 512 stock RAM.

No haxie installed of any sort. Dock just freezes when minimizing or restoring, or even moving mouse to find an application. Same idea as the Exposé bug in early 10.3.x that caused the Dock process to freeze, causing Exposé to freeze.

Nope, an Archive and Install of 10.4 and downloading the 10.4.2 combo updater is the only (practical) way...

Do you think that reinstalling the 10.4.3 Delta or Combo update might resolve this? Like maybe just a corrupted install?

BTW, this computer was having loads of trouble before with KPs occuring when the modem was connected and usually MS Word 2004 was running (occasionally, Print Shop 3.0 for Mac or iTunes 4.7-6.0.1)

On a side note, does the report freature after a kernel panic actually report anything to Apple? When it happened, nothing sent AFAIK, and it was the same when my iMac KP'd once.

That has helped for at least one thing in the past. Ironically, spesifically to fix a Software Update bug. So it might be worth a shot before reinstalling...

- run periodicals (sudo periodical daily weekly monthly)
