im trying to get the x86 version working on a pentium MMX 166 but I do not have the right chipset has anyone else had much luck using real hardware?

It's *VERY* picky with the supported systems. I had it running on a ThinkPad back in the day.

yes I see many people had it working on those laptops. well I have it running in virtualPC on OS9 so I might DD it to an old quantum hdd and see if I can get it to boot. it actually detects the ice hdd but not the cd drive.
