Not only did Apple recently kill QuickTime for Windows. In 10.12 the QuickTime Player application was removed and so are the APIs using QuickTime.

I guess Apple completely crippled QuickTime with the QuickTime X update. The interface was great, but the functionality was comparable to QuickTime in 1995. Time to move on.

No, they removed the old QuickTime and QTKit framework from the sdk. The QuickTime Player app has been using the new AVFoundation framework for years.

I'm not sure if I'm missing something here, but QuickTime is definitely in macOS Sierra:
