Here's a suggestion: when posting a roundup/guide to the front page, like this:

...that has already been covered in one or more front-page articles like this:

...which have already been extensively been commented on, why not disable comments on the roundup and, instead, include a note directing comments to the relevant original article(s)?

You're already soliciting feedback/corrections on the article itself via email.

Half seriously, because doing so would cut down the number of page views driven by the gamification of posting comments.
