I am looking to upgrade my networking system. Currently I am using a Netgear AC1900 Nighthawk combo and a I find it less than reliable In a 600 sq. ft. apartment running 8 devices: my MacBook Pro running OS 10.12 (will be buying a new 2021 model later this year) my iPhone 8+, iPad, HP printer two Nvidia Shields and two Blink cameras. My tv is not connected to the network. There are no security issues. I’m on Spectrum and find my 100mbps plan sufficient. Which router and modem should I get that won’t be overkill?

I would recommend that you check some of the articles on wirecutter, following are a couple of links:

I use the modem that my carrier (Spectrum) provides (Arris TM1602A DOCSIS 3.0), and I have one of the original Google WiFi Mesh networks. This works fine and I have 400-450 Mbps download speeds reliably.

I use Eeros and they’re ok*. Just wondering, why not go with slightly overkill? When you upgrade your machines you won’t need to upgrade routers.

* WiFi gets everywhere but there are hiccups hopping between the mesh endpoints and the eeros themselves heat up
