I ve installed a Rx 580 gpu in my Mac Pro 3.1 early 2008. It works only in safe mode. In normal mode, only white screen.
Any help??
RX 580 drivers requires SSE4.2, Mac Pro 2008 Xeons don't have it.

Any AMD GPU since GCN1.0 only works with MP5,1.

Older thread I know but it came up in related section at bottom of a thread. @OP you can now use the RX 580 in 10.14.5 via a patch from netkas.

Has anyone gotten this to work? I've tried both with a Sapphire Pulse RX560 and a RX580. I get nothing! The fans spin up, so it must get power. But the screen is black. Actually the screen behaves just like the computer isn't even turned on. The original 2600 XT card works just fine, so there's nothing wrong with the PCIe slot.

Any suggestions would be welcome.

The CPU does not have the features required to use the RX series cards, and the CPU cannot be upgraded to one which supports the RX cards.

That's what the patch is for, isn't it? At least that's what netkas claims.

[doublepost=1567540396][/doublepost]Here was when I briefly had the red devil installed. Took up too much space so put in the sapphire pulse instead and moved this to another machine.

Maybe #17163 is a solution? It's a kext that emulates two missing SSE4.2 instructions used by newer macOS AMD drivers. It also lets me run World of Warcraft and Classic WoW on a MacPro3,1 running Mojave or High Sierra with a GTX 680 (but there's a strange problem with the text drawing).
