I have two Maxtor DM10 300GB HD's that I plan on creating a striped RAID with in a Powermac G5 and SATA host card. However, on Macgurus and Promax websites, they note a prevalence of timing and sync problems with Maxtor drives and many SATA host cards.
Has anyone experienced such problems with their Maxtor drives when connected to a SATA host card? Should I take a chance on purchasing a SATA host card and cross my fingers, or just pick up a pair of Seagate 7200.8 HD's to create the RAID with (in which case, I have a pair of Maxtor drives for sale)?
