Hi,

I am wondering if it was possible to the BBserializer on my late 2012 27" iMac, I have seen posts with MacBooks & Mac Pro's but not an actual iMac.

long story short, I have the i5 2.9 Ghz Quad and was going to change that with the i7, I damaged the Logic Boards pins when fitting the processor, I bought a 2nd hand Logic Board from an Ebay second hand Mac parts seller with the i5 already fitted so put everything back in my iMac, BUT, the serial number shows as "unavailable". Would using the Serializer allow me to change the serial number on the Logic Board so I have the same serial number as the one on the chassis of my A1419??

any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Ray

It's a 12-year-old computer.
What purpose does "having the right serial number" even serve any more?
How can it matter?
(this is intended to be a serious answer)

Yes on a 2012, you can change the serial number.
Look on eBay for a USB bootable stick.
I have done that when a repaired logic board replaced unit without S/N/

Services like iMessage and FaceTime don't work correctly, or at all, if the computer doesn't have a valid serial number.
