I would like to use my iPhone 8 to record interviews with people as part of a small project.

Can you suggest which mics I could buy? I checked some bluetooth versions but they seem too expensive and cost in excess of $100.

I also remember reading once about how the new Lightning port actually decreases the quality of the signal as compared to the classic 3.5 mm jacks. Apparently, audiophiles have not been happy with the disappearance of the 3.5 mm on iPhones.

So, what should I get if I need to assemble a kit that will give me decent quality interviews outside a studio?

For softwares, is the Apple Voice Memos sufficient? If not, which third party software should I look at?

Thanks!
