I was thinking that maybe it’d be possible to shift-upgrade to iOS 11.4, back that up, and restore that backup so that I don’t lose apple watch data. Any flaws in this theory?

Make sure health data is sync to iCloud which would include your Watch activities. You may see blank app icons which you may need to update or redownload them, you may lose contacts and you may have a blank Measure app.

If I wipe and restore from that backup, wouldn’t it not include the measure app and stuff like that?

If I restore from a 11.4 backup and don’t shift update, will I lose health data from that backup to now?
