This laptop cooler looks promising. It is a stand that also acts as a heat sink. Probably less effective than fan based units, but this has the benefits of being silent and not drawing any power. It can also help protect the laptop during travel. A variety of sizes are available. Previously these were constructed of steel, but now they are made of aluminum.
