mojave 10.14.6 / imac late 2015 / external ssd .....all updates current............
Periodically run onyx but to do so sip has to be disabled, it runs well, does its job, then enabling sip locks it out again... also the dock has been customized (c dock) while in disable mode, reverts to former configuration when enabling sip....could there be something that connects these two or separate issues

Cdock injects the resources at login. If the system volume is locked, it cannot do that.

You can actually see at login right after you enter your password and you see the desktop, for less than a second (depending on how fast your Mac is) you can see the default dock, then the Cdock switches it to custom one.
