iPad "Skype for iPad" Question

I would like to Skype with family in Europe using my iPad Pro. I downloaded the "Skype for iPad" app, but I can't find an icon anywhere to start the app. This happens with both my iPad Pro and my iPad 4.

Can someone help me out by explaining how to use Skype on the iPad? (I've never skyped before using any device.)

If you installed the app, do you see it anywhere on your home screen, or perhaps one of the other home screens (or maybe some folder)?

That was exactly the problem until today. I downloaded it, but the app didn't appear anywhere (and the "download" was done almost instantaneously).

But I tried downloading it again today, and it worked. Perhaps there was a problem on their end yesterday.
