Both Preview and Quicklook take their sweet time to open HEIF files. I did a comparison, same images, JPEGs open with an image, while HEIF takes about a second of spinning indicator, before it shows. 1MB iPhone photos, exported either via compatibility mode (JPG) or keep originals (HEIF).

Macbook Pro 15 2016 with touchbar. If this isn't resolved I will have to switch the iPhone back to JPG.

What are your experiences? I guess the speed difference should be even more pronounced on pre-Skylake devices (Skylake and Kabylake should support hardware decoding, so I hope this will get polished in the next version of High Sierra).
