Hi folks,
My first post, I’m afraid that I need some advice.
UK owner of a G5 PPC running 10.4.11. It was my work machine for years but now the internet has slowed to almost a standstill.
Network is connected via Ethernet and a plug into the mains adaptor as it doesn’t have Airport. Broadband speed seems fine, it just looks like the poor old G5 is being strangled. As I still occasionally use the G5 for work, upgrading to a new Mac isn’t a viable option as all my software wouldn’t be compatible. I’ve added a new hard drive and done a clean instal of 10.4.11 and installed all the updated I can find, I’m using Safari and TenForFox, and they are both terribly slow now.
I’m not terribly computer savvy, but my friend Google has suggested that the network card and driver might be struggling.
Couple anybody enlighten me please? I’d be very grateful.
Thanks in advance, Phil
