I'm looking for an app for the new Apple TV that will play videos from a SMB server if anyone can help by posting. I found one, Video Explorer, but it will not let me log in via username and password so on with the search.

Hold tight - Infuse is coming and will do what you want (their iPhone/iPad app of the same name is just awesome!).

If the source of your storage is a Windows/Mac, you can use AirVideo for right now. You just run the AirVideo server on the server and it does the heavy lifting and encoding and streams to the AirVideo app on the ATV4. It's not very pretty right now, but it works.

Unfortunately, I can't install anything into the router. It provides the SMB setup which is much better than any other system I have used.

Looking forward to infuse as well. Video Explorer is getting worse.

This works decent enough but the content doesn't fit right on the screen. Also needs a way to delete files.
