Last night I was using Snapchat for roughly 30 minutes but screen was on for an hour, I checked the temp and phone was super warm (98 degrees fahrenheit).. I wasnt taking pictures or anything with snapchat just sending messages, is this normal behavior or what is going on?

Perfectly normal considering it's using location services and the camera is running in the background most of the times. So yeah, it doesn't matter if you're taking pics or not. Snapchat is badly optimized for iOS, it's been like this for years.
