Snow Leopard 2010

Can anyone help. 2010 27” IMac was originally factory released with OS10.6.8. I specifically bought that year to utilize software and hardware that function flawlessly together. However, I bought it used with 10.13 and is not allowing me to back date and reinstall 10.6.8 without 10.6 but either way it is not allowing me to install either of them. Any way around this? Can anyone point me in the right direction?

That Mac shipped with 10.6.3/4. You need at least that version to start with. A 10.6 install is not going to boot. There was a 10.6.3 retail disc released. If you know where to look, its pretty easily found with a simple search engine search.

The retail 10.6.3 disc won’t boot 2010 Macs. These Macs all ran a later build of 10.6.3 than was available on the retail DVD.

You will have to scour eBay and wherever else to find the specific 10.6.x disc for the 2010 iMac. It’ll probably be a challenge to find one at this point.

The problem is:
The commercial Snow Leopard installer is version 10.6.3
Your "new" 2010 iMac shipped with 10.6.3 (or 10.6.4), but with a special build for the updated hardware in that "new" iMac.
The result is that you can't boot to the commercial Snow Leopard installer.

One solution is to install Snow Leopard booted to an older Mac, using Firewire Target Disk mode. Pretty easy to do -- if you have an older Mac (older than your 2010 iMac )

I hope I won't get banned for this, but my solution was Torrent.
I had the discs, but my MacBook Pro mid 2010 spat the discs out.
