Sold iPhone 2G for 3G

I recently unlocked + jailbroke my 1.1.4 iPhone 2G (bought with a contract with att) and sold it in order to obtain a 3G (which I haven't gotten it yet). But I was wondering if it would deactivate my 2G phone or just the old sim card, with activation of the new 3G iPhone. Anyone else thinking of doing the same?
