The widow of the man who founded fast-food restaurant chain McDonald`s has left $1.5bn (£820m) in her will to the Salvation Army.

let me guess your reply- she did this so her estate would not be taxed as much, am i correct?

should i get more examples? link how abount another?

i won't post anymore since i think your castro-esque beliefs will not allow you to see that rich people do, in fact, give.

I thought you wrote something else.

Can you change your signature? I find it rather gross.

I will tell you what.

Why don't you explain it to me and then I will be willing to withdraw my request.

Hmm...

There's four parts to my sig, the first is a link to a hair removal site, the second states my status in the exalted PPP, the third is a line from a liscence plate frame and the last is a link to a Macintosh users group specialising in home theatre use.

Can you please tell me again how you find any of that gross?

how is being a proponent of forced wealth redistribution different than what castro did in cuba? explain that to me.

also- what is so bad about the word communist? it seems everyone sees it as a put down, yet several people in this thread obviously believe a lot of its principles.

And this.

I don't know what's more despicable, the efforts to revive the reputation of one of the most disreputable politicians in US history, Joe McCarthy, or the revival of his red-baiting techniques by people who are too young or possibly too callow to comprehend what they are doing.

No- we move on! Maybe you should, too.

No, we just question liberal's patriotism now.

You ever hear that bit about history repeating itself?

Basically, from all your backlash about a word, it seems to me that you all know that what you want is exactly what I said.

Also- where it is I said that history did not repeat itself? There is a difference between learning from the past and using the past as a crutch.

It seems to me, they way you all are interpreting the past, no one better mention that the world is heliocentric. Someone might get killed.

You know, we had this very same conversation the last time you called someone a communist. The nicest kind of communist of course. At that time you said you understood why people, particularly liberals, go into defensive mode when 'red-baited'. Now it appears you have forgotten already. Do you think your average German would be any less sensitive today if you called one a Nazi? The sting of what was done in the name of patriotism has not faded for many just because it has for you.

So go ahead and keep red-baiting us. Just expect the response to be the same every time.

It can't fade if you never knew about or understood it in the first place. Just a clarification.

"Those who fail to learn from the past are doomed to repeat it..."

Maybe you need to study your history books a little more...

Really? I don't get your point, since mine is essentially the same. I also posted Clarence Darrow's interpretation of Santayana's famous quote, which btw, was "Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it."

The difference is, this time, psudobrit said, in effect, that the government needs to force the rich to give to the poor. I pointed out this is exactly what Castro did. I don't see what is wrong about connecting A with B, when it is blatantly obvious.

So, people do not want to be called 'communists', yet wealth redistribution is one of the tenets of the communists.

If your goal is to make sure that people that want to be helped get help, there are multiple ways to achieve that, some of which respect the rights of BOTH sides.

I'm sure you have heard the statement "Your rights end where mine begin."

Just to stick my finger on the iron (and not to call anyone in particular names)...

Would it make any difference to call someone a "Marxist" instead of "communist"?

Would it be proper to refer to an Israeli living in a kibbutz as a "communist"? It is a "commune"...
Just curious.
