Hi, I had a question.

So, for some of the long-running threads, usually Community Discussion ones, people tend to "split up" the threads into multiple parts. Here are some examples:

https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/what-are-you-listening-to-part-iii.1560368/ What are you listening to? (Part III)
https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/post-your-last-purchase-xxviii.1812245/ Post your last purchase (Part XXVIII)
https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/photo-of-the-day-september-2023.2400189/ Photo of the Day (Sept.2023)

My question is, why do people split up these threads? ...As far as I know, these threads don't have any message limit to them... so making "duplicates" of the same question/query is pretty confusing.

How are they confusing? Unless of course some filthy necromancer summons a long dead thread. Here is a hint, if the thread topic is "post a pic of your car 2018" DON'T POST IN IT!!!!!! Look for the current thread first!

Do we really need 1000 page threads? They seem a bit unwieldy. Threads like the ones you referenced don't really have organic conversation in them so splitting them up, say by calendar years, is actually quite efficient.
