SSD upgrade not detected in disk utility

my 2012 Mac Pro has 64 Gb RAM and an AMD Radeon HD 7970 (3Gb) GPU ... I have just installed a 1Tb Samsung 870 EVO SSD and created a Catalina installation USB drive, but the new SSD is not detected in disk utility (even with view - show all) ... any ideas please ?
