iPhone X Suddenly getting the “message failed to send” error when attempting to text my friend who is an Android user

I have a group chat with 3 other friends. All of us have iPhones but one, and up until now I’ve never had any issues.

In the last few days, it has consistently been giving me the “message failed to send” error when I send a text in the group then close the messaging app. I have to open the app and have the conversation open and wait for the green bar at the top to completely go across in order to get it to send, not touching anything. If I start typing it fails.

I double checked that sms was turned on, did a hard reset, etc and still no luck. This is very irritating, any ideas?

Edit - My friend who has the Android just said he is experiencing the same thing.

I’m having the same issue on my iPhone 11 Pro. I usually will resend when I press it again. But it’s still annoying. And wasn’t doing this before.
