I am stuck. My Superdrive has been messed up ever since I updated to 10.3.6

Since then it will only recognise it has a disc in about 1 out of 20 attempts. I read on the Apple site this was a problem with eMacs but 10.3.7 still hasn't sorted it can anyone help me.

I have a Pioneer 106 Superdrive, eMac 1ghz, 256 Meg ram. 10.3.7 OS.

Thanks in advance

Its Possible

Hardware wise its possible. Anything man made can break. My superdrive in my imac died after about a year and a half of use. It still burned CDs great until I accidentally dropped it though while moving. :-( Now I have an external CD burner hooked up... Guess that means its time to order that G5 iMac I want right??

Have 10.3.6 on my eMac, and no glitches so far.

Had issues with my PB SDD recently. It may have been the environment (smoking by others in the same area). Was replaced by Apple under warranty.

My warranty ran out 1 month ago. :(

I didn't want to do it but it was a last resort. I formatted HD and re-installed OS. Now it will take all blank discs and burn them, but won't recognize any other discs, either original or back-ups of data.

Gotta try and remember where I got all my stuff from now to re-install it. lol

Looks like I'm gonna need a new drive.
