I have a System running 10.7.5 here that occasionally experiences a freeze/kernel panic when I access it's files through finder remotely, mounted as a share on another machine that's running 10.9.5.

This seems to happen when I do stuff like copy a large-ish file from one folder to another and all on the remote system (the one running Lion) and - just checked now - I can not find any entry in system.log or kernel.log on the affected machine for this - only the messages for the subsequent boot procedure.

I'm not sure if the machines are using SMB or the Apple-protocol to talk to one another - where do I find that info? Also, the machines are running on a wired Gbit-connection.

Anyone heard of this kind of behaviour - and where would I be able to find a log for the event to see what's going on there?
