Carrier T Mobile Trade in pick up from Apple Store as authorized user?

If I'm an authorized user on the account do I actually need the primary account holder with me to pick up the phone? It says this on the apple website but the T Mobile website says an authorized user is accepted.

You shouldn't but you'll need the last four of the primary account holders SSN in order to activate the phone. The phone will ask for that in order to activate.
