iPhone Temporarily remove apps for update why?

Hi so I have 10gb available and ios 12 ota update wants to temporarily remove apps why?

Idk which apps it’ll remove so I canceled

It needs room to download, decompress and install the update. The apps removed will be restored after the update. 10Gb does seem a little excessive but I wouldn't worry about it - you'll be right back where you started when it's done.
