Resolved this file does not have a program associated with it for perfoming this action. weird

i got this new win 8.1 PC back in June. righ clicked on my desktop> then i clicked new> i clicked on new journal document just to see what it does but i get this error that makes no since to me



I figured it out.

That message means what it says. You created a (blank) document - which happens to be a .jnt file, which is used by Journal. Your Windows 8.1 would have the journal app as a standard part of the system. And, for some reason, you made a journal file which is not linked to the journal app.
And, that same message continues on to tell you how to fix the issue:

Create an association for the file in the Default Programs control panel.

Might only need doing once, but (it's Windows ), so I don't know.
