Hopefully a iPhone 13 helps even if only a little.

I had bad reception on my XS in my house, so when upgrading to a 13 i had high hopes for the qualcom modem.
But nothing changed…

It is not in my house.

Outside a Target and inside and outside a restaurant.

It seems like it’s in a congested area. What plan do you have? Some plans don’t get priority data.

Over a decade ago, iPhone 3GS times, I moved to a house that had poor reception. Looking at the AT&T coverage map, the entire area around me was listed as “excellent”—except a small sliver marked “good”, which of course included my house. I’d drop calls all day.

This was in the days before wifi calling, but AT&T had a service you could buy where they sold you what amounted to a tiny cell tower you plugged into your cable modem. I said you mean you want to charge me to use the bandwidth I’m already paying for? This had better work flawlessly.

It did not work flawlessly. The unit was constantly dropping off my wifi network. To AT&T’s credit, they refunded me for the equipment. Eventually I stopped using the iPhone and for a while went back to a basic candy bar phone. Ah, the good old days.

Back when we had AT&T, my wife was on the phone complaining about the spottiness of service inside our house, and her call to the rep dropped mid-sentence. The rep called her back, and said she'd ship us a micro tower at no charge. Luckily, our experience was better than yours, as our coverage was flawless from that point on.

Why would you expect performance on poor network signal change with a new phone?

A crappy pancake is still crappy even if you change the syrup/honey.
Crappy customer service is still crappy regardless of how great the product is or the price.
A Chevrolet Fiero will still catch on fire regardless of the engine inside (as majority of Fiero owners soon found out)

Same concept and practicality here.

Wow, that’s quite bad!
This is my 4G speeds on my current provider here in South Africa, I believe Vodacom being part of Vodafone group is also partially owned by Verizon?
Anyway this is what I currently get…

Vodafone Group is a British company, Verizon is just a roaming partner.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vodafone

5G here in Toronto (Wi-Fi is fully turned off) first 3 pics -iOS set to 5G Auto (1 is just startup screen). Doesn’t seem like I’m getting 5G to be honest.

4G last two pics.

EDIT: higher numbers are forth 5G Auto enabled. Macrumors didn’t add pics in the order I took them or selected.

Very nice! Similarly speeds to what I get on my Huawei Mate 40 Pro on 5G on the MTN network I use in that phone…
