Back in my Windows days, this was great (even on a very early release) - more like Apple's Mail, than Outlook.

Thunderbird is a browser now?

I might upgrade, although I've not had any issues with the version I have, 0.8, or 0.7. Something like that. If there aren't any goodies, I doubt I'll bother...

But yeah, Thunderbird is a really, really nice email application, Howard. Do try it out.

but thunderbird is an email client


anyway,

it has a 3 pane view similar to outlook or entourage, which i LOVE! that alone could make me switch...i'll keep looking for neat features..

I love Thunderbird and I'm glad it made it all the way to version 1.0.

I switched from Eudora because Eudora was going nowhere and cost a lot to stay current, even if it was better at history than most e-mail clients. I like Thunderbird better than Apple's mail simply because it runs on multiple platforms and will gain from all of the extra users experiencing it.

Thunderbird is a very great app! I have used it as my primary mail-client since version 0.6.

Apparently, you can't import directly from mail.app. It will allow import from .txt, .csv, and tab-separated files, as well as LDIF files. There does not appear to be an export.

However, if you're concerned about whether you'll like it or not. Run the two in parallel for a few days, having the messages deleted from the server after a few days, so they both pick up the same e-mail.
