For technology questions like this I usually look at www.macsales.com to see what they're offering. So I did, and I found this useful article talking about the difference between Thunderbolt 3 and Thunderbolt 4. It explains why you mainly see storage devices using Thunderbolt 3 chipsets and why you'll be happier with one.

I've been watching this space like a hawk, as my Drobo is well beyond it's retirement date and I was hoping for some next generation hardware to be announced at CES.

This is the best bet that I can see right now, unless you want to check out TB4 NAS devices (connects via TB4 networking).
