I have a linux server running OpenMediaVault. If this doesn't belong here, sorry. I couldn't figure out where else to put it.

I wanted time machine support over samba so I installed version 4.8.5 from Debian testing and I think I have a problem with my config.

First, the server shows up twice in finder, first as "ROCK64" and then as "rock64 - SMB/CIFS". Why is it showing up twice?

Second, when I try to use time machine, I get an error from MacOS Mojave saying the disk has changed and it basically rewrites the entire backup.

Everything is on ext4 partitions except for the non time machine shares. Those are on a Btrfs partition.

my smb.conf is here: https://pastebin.com/JGpJB8Z1
the screen cap of the error is here: https://imgur.com/gallery/kKwCfEO

I've asked on reddit and gotten no answers yet, and on the OMV forums I've been told "just use AFP," which I'd like to phase out.

crap. I'll have to try another version that's not in the repos I guess. I didn't even consider my LVM layer could cause some confusion.
