I recently updated my AppleTV 4K (A2843) to tvOS 17.0 and right after I noticed a weird behavior - when using a remote's touchpad to swipe left and right on the screen keyboard while doing searches, sometimes horizontal swipes ended up as having a reverse direction (i.e. swiping right would result focus on the active letter to move left instead).
The solution was to update the remote's firmware from 0x21 to 0x33. Although there's no manual way to do it, mine happened automatically after I plugged in the charger, since then I have no issues.
