I jailbroke my ipad, decided I didn't want to keep it and then restored my ipad back to default state.

When I open the App store on the ipad, the top downloads icon is no longer a star but the capital "A" which is the same A used for the Applications icon in OSX.

Is this due to a faulty restore? Or something else?

I see the same thing. Must be due to the firmware. I did notice that when restoring, the downloaded file was labeled iPad Software Update. Might be changed because of the WIFI issues. Hmmm....
