iPad Trackpad 1 with ipad OS

Anyone successfully paired these ? Ive got the original bluetooth trackpad with 2018 IPad Pro but cant pair them. Any ideas anyone ?

I have been able to pair Trackpad 1 with iPad Pro 12.9, but am unable to get any functionality for the Trackpad. Under Settings, Accessibility, Touch, Assistive Touch, Devices, I show Connected, but there is a statement Magic Mouse and Magic Trackpad are not supported over Bluetooth. AssistiveTouch must be On for me to use my Citrix X1 Mouse.

Magic Mouse 1 is not supported over Bluetooth? Works fine for me on iPadOS and 2nd gen 12,9" iPad pro. AssistiveTouch must be on of course, but that's normal.
