Hi all, I'm trying to update my Java so i can try out RSSOwlnix, but I'm having a bit of trouble. The problem is that after running the updater in the Java Control Panel found in System Preferences, RSSOwlnix still refuses to run and tells me I'm still running Java 1.7.0_45. Also, when I check the terminal i get the same:
$ java -version
java version "1.7.0_45"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.7.0_45-b18)
Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 24.45-b08, mixed mode)

I have already rebooted once, just to be sure, and the Java Control Panel says Java 8 Update 321.

Obviously something is wrong.

i found a JDK 8 download online(a bit larger filesize): https://www.oracle.com/java/technologies/downloads/#java8-mac

is this what i need? ...says i need to sign up, eh
