I'm trying to alter the behaviour of the system when it freezes. Default setting is to simply restart which has become a bit of an issue with a recent security update - or so it seems and I'd like to investigate myself instead of being presented with a login screen once in a while when returning to the computer.
Therefore, invoking sudo systemsetup -setrestartfreeze off
as per the man page is supposed to simply let the computer sit frozen instead of auto-rebooting. However running sudo systemsetup -getrestartfreeze subsequently shows me that the setting never actually changes, it remains 'On'.
Is there some catch to using this command - does it need to be run in safe mode, do I need a different user - not sudo, is it perhaps protected by SIP or else?
(OS 10.13.6)
