Does anyone else have this issue?:

I have now have two phones (original and 3G) and when I hooked up the new one, it took the same name as the old one and restored all my old data to the new phone... Which is great, but it named the phone the same thing! I now have two phones with the same name, and I'm not sure what's getting stored to the "backup" information each time I connect a phone.

I'd like to have two phones, with different names, with pretty close to the same configuration both running the proper version of the iPhone software, but where my old phone can still be used as a "Touch" without having to go through some activation process.

Anyone have a suggestion?

Connect the old phone to iTunes, double click on the device name, and give it a new name.

Voila. The phone is now a separate device. Put 2.0 on it, set it to airplane mode with WiFi enabled, and you have a glorified iPod touch. Enjoy. :)
