Both of these apps are VR apps. What they do is it use your video camera, GPS, and the motion sensor on your iPhone and iPad to position you on the Earth. With this info it projects a virtual view of the sky from your location into the screen of your device. With your video camera on your look through your screen into the sky. The apps projects a semi transparent overlay on that. This projection includes what ever constellations are in view, star, planets, etc. If you see an object you are curious tap on it and the app brings up the catalog number and other related information.

I have Star Walk 2 and its add-on content and it's a great app, installed on my M1 12.9, Mini 6, & 14 Pro Max.
