I'm running 22.04 LTS on my mid-2010 13 inch MacBook Pro and the installation was a breeze.
I created a bootable USB installer with Ubuntu's
instructions on macOS and everything just worked after that.
Almost everything works right away (even the brightness, sound, and keyboard backlight function keys). The only issue I've run into is that suspend (Ubuntu's sleep mode) doesn't work properly, so I'm still waiting on a fix for that – for now I've just disabled it to avoid any problems. Your laptop is also newer, so that might not be an issue on yours.
