iPhone Unable to Access my Google notes on iOS 3.1.3

I have an original iPhone running iOS 3.1.3.

I want to be able to sync my notes using my google account through Microsoft exchange.

I can't seem to find the option to sync notes in my google account in iOS 3.1.3 settings. Is this a limitation of iOS 3?

Was google account notes syncing through Microsoft exchange introduced *after* IOS 3?

If yes, are there any hacks to enable notes sync in iOS 3?

I had no idea there was Google Notes syncing with the Exchange setting.

When I used Google for Notes, I just used the standard Gmail IMAP setup.

It's there in iOS 5.

I can't seem to find it in iOS 3.

Any ideas?
