I just finished re-installing Catalina on my iMac (Retina 5K, 27 in, 2019). I performed the MacOS initial config and created the admin user. Later I created a second admin level user. Now when logged in as the first admin user, I can't authenticate in System Preferences, but I am able to log out and back in as that user. I have researched this and tried multiple methods but I am unable to fix this. When I try to change the password of the user, SP says the password is wrong. The second admin user is able to authenticate.

I have tried to delete and re-create the user. I have used the second admin user the change the password. I have booted to recovery mode and and used the resetpassword wizard. I have deleted the user and removed the ApplesetupDone file to trigger the initialization. Everything I've tried has failed to get this user to authenticate.

Is there something else I can try? Thanks for any ideas.
